peeps party, 04.20.03
To celebrate
Gareth
and Shira's April birthdays those two partners-in-peepery decided
(along with Scott)
to throw a party at Danzhaus,
a beautiful loft-space in our 'hood. The B.R.I.C.K
peeps and the LovenSin peeps
pulled together to throw a sugary sweet marshmellow-Peep themed house
party. Last week Shira, Scott, Felice,
Jim, Terry and Heath brought thousands
of peeps over to our house to make decorations: including several
peeps-covered hats, a
peepscoball, and a
birthday peeps crown for Gareth. Jeff
and his fabulous boyfriend Matt drove up from L.A., and Esther
and Jason (just back from 3
weeks in Thailand) flew down from Portland. It was fabulous. Allyson,
Heather, Bryan, and Eugene rediscovered the joy/confusion/frustration
of hula hoops, and Gabrielle
helped Bryan to get his freak on. Terry dressed up as a bondage
bunny. His wife Heath was a devilled egg (and I'm kicking myself for
not catching any photos of her in that costume). Shira
was a supa-sexy kitty cat. Jim
dusted the ladies with sparkles. Esther
and I wore our peep jewelry creations. Lee,
Jeff, Jason
and Matt pinned peepineers on their shirts. Kate
tended bar with Esther and me, and later John
joined us. At evening's end, Esther captured an ominous
video clip of John whispering our favorite "Pretty in Pink"
quote, "You're trash...you'll always be trash." We returned
to our own loft at 6a.m. and completely
annoyed Bocce by staying up and refusing to go to sleep. In lieu of
sleep, we
burned incense and chatted
incessantly. After enjoying Easter brunch at Just
for You with Gwen, Chad, and
Darby,
we ambled over to the Howard
Street Fair to shake our booties to some psytrance, spun by the cute
and talented
DJ Penta. "And what is the message this weekend?" you ask.
The conclusion I have drawn is, "The
life you enjoy may be your own." Please continue to keep that
in mind. Following is a selection of colorful moments captured by my camera,
supplemented by some lovingly lifted from Heather,
Allyson
and Esther's
online photo albums.
